The Avant Garde is a Twin Cities based music and entertainment production company that puts on curated events featuring urban eclectic entertainment. They also do consulting and provide artist development and assistance to elevate their brand.
Chadwick “Niles” Phillips:
Chadwick “Niles” Phillips is the CEO/Founder of The Avant Garde which is a program that produces concerts and curated events. He graduated from Michigan State University in 2006 with a Bachelors in Communications. After graduation he moved to New York City to pursue a career in music, film and education. He is the son of the legendary jazz/symphony orchestra bassist Sam Gill. He youth artist development “Hip-Hop, History and The Arts” has been taught in schools all around the state of Minnesota. He is a recipient of the Black Music America Award, Bloomington Pioneer Award and an Outstanding Alumni Award from Michigan State University. He is currently an artist in residence for Walker West Academy.
Kelz Musik:
As a singer, songwriter, and producer, Kelz Musik knows his way around both the stage and the studio. Kelz is passionate about connecting with musicians, venues and corporations to create memorable musical experiences in the Twin Cities and beyond. His unique sound is a soulful blend of rhythm, blues, gospel, and hip hop, inspired by the likes of Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Alicia Keys, and John Legend to name a few. He is excited about leaving his mark on the music world by letting his love for music and his undeniable work ethic lead the way. He is a part of the ComingL singing group that is currently doing incredible things on the Twin Cities music scene. Kelz is proud to call Minneapolis his home, where he was born and raised.
Jamela Pettiford:
Jamela Pettiford also known as GOD’s Queen, was born to sing. Music flows in her blood, descending from the late Oscar and Ira Pettiford, famous jazz musicians. Jamela began singing in church at the early age of 4. She sang with many local and national acts, entertaining in plays, TV commercials and numerous large venues. Jamela Pettiford has sung with the Big John Dickerson Blues Band for over 15 years; with the Band, she was the recipient of the 2007 Minnesota Blues Hall of Fame. Jamela recently sang the black national anthem at the Minnesota Timberwolves game. GOD’s Queen Music is a fusion of different genres deeply rooted in soul.
